Listen to the episode:

Using clay as a traditional material to express form and function, Dawn’s work captures the intimacy between the maker and clay.  She is attracted to the way clay passes through the hands of the maker, making it seem effortless, as if it were moving on its own, capturing fluid motions and movement and moments in time.  Her work is about generosity and relationships. Generosity of materials and mark making and the generosity between people and the relationships sharing in everyday rituals create. Pattern, color and shape all lead the viewer and user to reflect on their own pasts, memories and specific points of view. Functional ceramics require the push and pull of the artist and the user.
